Deutsche Bank’s office in Cary, US, has received a prestigious ‘green’ certification.

The 35,000-square-foot office space, located on the 3rd floor of 3000 Centre Green Way, Cary, received LEED Green Building Certification from the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and was verified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).

This is the first Deutsche Bank project in the Americas to achieve LEED-CI Gold Certification, as well as the first to incorporate significant sustainable green lease provisions.

LEED is the preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of green buildings.  LEED for Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI) is a benchmark for the tenant improvement market that gives the power to make sustainable choices to tenants and designers.

Deutsche Bank’s Cary office received this certification for its use of energy, lighting and water, as well as a number of other green design strategies and features. These include:
• Low flow water closets, waterless urinals, and efficient faucets at lavatories and pantries, which result in a water reduction of more than 45% below industry standard
• Energy efficient LED (Light-emitting diode) lighting and Energy Star equipment (appliances, copiers, printers, AC / IT equipment)
• As part of the Deutsche Bank Green initiative, green power was purchased to offset the power used for all facilities
• Onsite recycling collection area
• Recycled content was approximately 25% of the cost of materials
• Low VOC (volatile organic compound)  emitting materials including paints, adhesives, and sealants
• Daylight harvesting utilizing automatic daylight monitoring controls at all light fixtures within 15’ of the perimeter windows
• Use of FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) wood products in millwork and furniture
• An indoor air quality (IAQ) program was used during the project protecting all air distribution systems and the environment  from construction debris
• Over 75% of the construction debris was sent to recycling plants and not landfills
• Interior core rooms with clear glass fronts as well as low height panels on furniture systems were incorporated to allow maximum daylight penetration
• Task lights and thermostats for increased user comfort and control
• An educational program with highlighting all of the sustainable features incorporated in the project

Several Deutsche Bank offices, including One Beacon Street in Boston, Massachusetts; Jacksonville, Florida; Mumbai, India; and Warsaw, Poland offices have achieved LEED certifications. The Bank is pursuing LEED certification in more than a dozen other offices worldwide.
