The Deutsche Bank Championship (DBC), New England’s premier PGA TOUR event, held its annual Media Day event on August 1 at TPC Boston in Norton, MA. More than 80 sports and financial journalists were in attendance including print, radio and broadcast media. Featured panelists included Seth Waugh, CEO of Deutsche Bank Americas, Eric Baldwin, Championship Director, Bill Scannell, Vice President of Sales at EMC, and Charley Hoffman, defending DBC champion

Eric Baldwin kicked-off the press conference by thanking the scores of volunteers and fans for helping make this event successful year after year. He also spoke about new events and programs along with changes to the course.

Waugh followed suit by discussing how pleased the Bank is to continue as principal sponsor for the tournament. “This is our ninth year. I’m very proud of what we have built. The competition is always extraordinary.” He then highlighted the Championship’s recent successes including its long-standing commitment to social responsibility and community involvement. Since the tournament’s inception, the DBC has generated more than USD19m in charitable contributions. In addition, he reaffirmed the Championship's commitment to environmental sustainability, reflecting the Bank's overall commitment to be carbon neutral from 2013 onward.

Charley Hoffman, who joined via conference call talked about this season accomplishments and his record-setting finish in 2010. "It gave me a lot of confidence going into this year. I haven’t played as well as I've liked but hopefully will get on another run during the playoffs and have another chance during the Deutsche Bank Championship," he said.

The 2011 Deutsche Bank Championship, scheduled for August 30 - September 5, enters its fifth year as a PGA TOUR Playoff event and is the second of four stops in the PGA tour Playoffs for the FedExCup.
