Jacques Brand and Rory Mcllroy ring the Opening Bell at the NYSE to kick off the Deutsche Bank Championship

Jacques Brand, CEO of North America and GEC Member, and Rory Mcllroy, PGA TOUR Pro and winner of the 2012 Deutsche Bank Championship, led the official kick-off of Deutsche Bank Championship (DBC) at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) with the ringing of the Opening BellSM on Monday, August 26.

The 2013 DBC, which takes place August 30 to September 2 at the TPC in Norton, MA, celebrates its eleventh anniversary and its seventh year as part of the PGA Playoffs. Mcllroy is set to defend his title against some of the world’s best pro golfers, including past tournament winners Webb Simpson, Charley Hoffman, Adam Scott, Vijay Singh, Steve Stricker and Phil Mickelson.

Throughout its history as the one of New England’s premier events, the Championship has generated over USD 24m for charitable organizations benefitting children, including the Tiger Woods Foundation, The Red Sox Foundation, Hockomock Area YMCA and First Tee of Massachusetts. Additionally, the DBC has had a direct and indirect spending impact of close to USD 600m over the last nine years for the Boston and greater-New England area. Also, this year, proceeds from the sale of commemorative bracelets sold at the tournament will go directly to the One Fund in support of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. Monday of the Championship will be recognized as “Boston Strong” day, with all those directly affected by this tragedy invited as guests of Deutsche Bank to TPC Boston.
