Deutsche Bank is once again joining the Jacksonville Jaguars in support of the Jacksonville Public Education Fund’s (JPEF) teacher recognition program. For the second consecutive year, the bank in Jacksonville will support JPEF in elevating teacher leadership and best practices among Duval County’s public school educators.

“Deutsche Bank remains committed to supporting educators and helping to shape a bright future for students in the community,” said Brian Fay, Head of Jacksonville. “We are honored to continue our work through a grant with JPEF along with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Being an active player in the education system benefits all involved – teachers, student and the community.”

Kevin Dooley, Head of Human Resources in Jacksonville, has been working with JPEF for the past two years. As part of the Teacher of the Year selection committee, he joins 10 other members from the community to evaluate the top 15 teachers from over 170 schools in Duval Country.  The program also offers sustainable benefits beyond the Teacher of the Year recognition.  Last year Dooley and the Deutsche Bank Jacksonville Ambassadors worked with Michael Bostic Jones, one of the top five teachers in the 2017 program, to create a Financial Literacy program in partnership with the University of North Florida (UNF), Raines High School and the Jacksonville Jaguars.  Forty-five students participated in the program which included financial literacy instruction at the high school, a day at Deutsche Bank touring our facility, and a day at UNF touring the campus and learning about the process of applying to college. The program was a huge success for all involved.

Latrece Brown, 2017 Duval County Teacher of the Year recipient, used her award to directly benefit students by making improvements in her curriculum and classroom. The 3th grade teacher from Robinson Elementary School has served in a variety of leadership roles over the past year including the steering committee for our Teacher Roundtable and the JPEF Board of Directors. She worked with JPEF to reimagine the EDDY Awards program including the planning a new Facebook group for teachers and a two-week summer fellowship for the five 2018 Teacher of the Year finalists. 

Fay added, “Latrece is a testament to the importance of supporting JPEF and their mission to build leadership within our education system.  She has been selfless in her role as Teacher of the Year and sets a prime example for all who follow in her footsteps.
