Deutsche Bank scores 100 on Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index 2014

Deutsche Bank has been recognized with a perfect score of 100 for the seventh consecutive year by the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) annual Corporate Equality Index (CEI), which classifies the “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality.” According to HRC, the Bank’s top score represents a commitment “to progress for the equal rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Americans.” In this year’s CEI, the organization specifically noted businesses like Deutsche Bank that signed and supported the historic amicus brief, resulting in the Supreme Court striking down the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

“While it is an honor to once again be recognized by the Human Rights Campaign, I am even more proud of what this means to our employees,” said Jacques Brand, Chief Executive Officer of North America and Member of the Group Executive Committee. “Our workplace culture is defined by equality, inclusivity, and diverse teams – all which create an open environment where everyone can be their authentic selves.”

In signing the amicus brief last year, Deutsche Bank underscored its commitment to diversity and its support of LGBT and ally employees, clients, and to the communities in which it operates. Deutsche Bank is an industry leading champion of equal treatment in terms of policies and benefits, offering tax equalization of same-sex domestic partner benefits.

The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve LGBT  equality. The organization’s CEI 2014 rated 934 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community.
