Jacques Brand, Henrik Stenson and military personnel ring Opening Bell at NYSE to kick off the Deutsche Bank Championship

Jacques Brand, CEO of Deutche Bank North America, and and Henrik Stenson, ranked one of the world’s top three golfers and winner of the 2013 Deutsche Bank Championship (DBC), led the official kick-off of this year’s Deutsche Bank Championship with the ringing of the Opening Bell on Monday, August 25, at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

Brand and Stenson were joined by members of the Department of Defense, Army, Navy and National Guard as part of Deutsche Bank’s show of support for veterans in association with this year’s Championship.

Following the ringing of the bell, the group was given a tour of the NYSE floor. Brand then accompanied Stenson and military service members to 60 Wall Street, where they took a tour of the Deutsche Bank trading floor.

The 2014 DBC takes place from August 27 to September 1 at TPC Boston in Norton, Massachusetts. The Championship, a Labor Day tradition featuring the top 100 golfers from the PGA TOUR, is the second of four events in the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedEx Cup. Deutsche Bank has been the title sponsor of the tournament since its debut in 2003.

Support for the community and US military

Since 2003, the Deutsche Bank Championship has generated over USD 24m for charitable organizations benefiting children, including the Tiger Woods Foundation, The Red Sox Foundation, Hockomock Area YMCA and First Tee of Massachusetts.

In addition, the 2014 Deutsche Bank Championship (DBC) is lending support for veterans through sponsorship of a veterans career fair on September 4 at Gillette Stadium near Boston. All active, reserve and retired military service members and their dependents (with a valid Common Access Card or Retired Military Card) also receive complimentary admission each day of the championship. Military personnel are invited to a designated “military outpost” providing outstanding views from the 17th tee.
