Deutsche Bank Championship Kick-off: Jacques Brand, Chris Kirk and Strive for College ring NYSE Opening Bell

Jacques Brand, CEO of Deutsche Bank North America, and Chris Kirk, winner of the 2014 Deutsche Bank Championship (DBC), led the official kick-off of this year’s Deutsche Bank Championship with the ringing of the Opening Bell on Monday, August 31, at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

Brand and Kirk were joined by Strive for College founder Michael Carter and several Strive students and mentors. Tom Farley, President of the NYSE, also welcomed the group.

This year, the tournament will highlight educational programs that help low-income students get into and go to college. “With our firm’s financial support and the involvement of our staff, Deutsche Bank partners with Strive for College as part of it's Born to Be education program and is helping Strive expand into  different regions, including Boston this fall. We’ll be encouraging everyone at the Championship to get involved,” said Brand.

The 2015 Deutsche Bank Championship, which will take place September 3 to September 7 at TPC Boston, is the second event of the FedExCup Playoffs featuring the top 100 PGA TOUR professionals. Distinguished past champions include Chris Kirk, Henrik Stenson, Rory McIlroy, Webb Simpson, Charley Hoffman, Steve Stricker, Vijay Singh, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Olin Browne, and Adam Scott. Deutsche Bank has been the title sponsor of the tournament since its debut in 2003.
