More than 130 colleagues join forces to help make improvements in local schools

On Saturday, February 7, more than 130 Deutsche Bank Jacksonville volunteers joined local women leaders and other community members to wire, weld, wash and work their magic to transform Duval County through a citywide service day called Generation WORKS.
 
Deutsche Bank was the lead sponsor of the inaugural event initiated by Generation W, a nonprofit organization focused on educating, inspiring, and connecting women and girls through various programs and initiatives. Generation WORKS was developed to harness the powerful energy of women’s leadership and inspire others to make a difference in the community. The event mobilized hundreds of volunteers to complete more than 20 different projects throughout Jacksonville.
 
“Deutsche Bank is honored to partner with Generation W, which shares in our commitment to promote diversity across our business and within the city of Jacksonville,” said Leslie Slover, Regional Head of Jacksonville and Cary. “Generation WORKS provides an exciting opportunity for employees to drive social change and improve the quality of life in our community.”
 
The event kicked off just before sunrise at Jacksonville’s Unity Plaza. The Deutsche Bank teams, led by senior managers and employee team captains, then went to five separate Duval County schools to work on various projects.

“I was so proud to be a part of this volunteer initiative,” said Nader Jarun, a Deutsche Bank employee. “We physically transformed the exterior of the schools, as well as worked closely with the students themselves to make these improvements. Overall Generation WORKS was a wonderful opportunity to give back to the schools and help to create a place where students can be inspired to learn.”

The Bank partnered with the Jacksonville Public Education Fund, Duval County Public Schools and the United Way of Northeast Florida to organize school projects including planting new vegetable gardens, updating science labs and beautifying courtyards and grounds.

I was inspired by the enthusiasm and dedication that my Deutsche Bank colleagues displayed while working at the schools,” said Kris Perry, a Deutsche Bank employee who was also a Generation WORKS team captain. “I am honored to have been a part of this female-led effort and equally proud of our great teams and volunteers.”
