Celebrating LGBT Pride Month, June 2016

Deutsche Bank is proud of its commitment to build an inclusive work environment. This was highlighted in its recent announcement to freeze expansion plans in Cary, North Carolina as the result of state legislation which invalidated existing protections of the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender fellow citizens in some municipalities.

Deutsche Bank has also sponsored an event entitled Multi National Corporations: LGBT Equality and The Global Economy which was held in New York and broadcast around the world. The event explored the risks and rewards of LGBT inclusiveness for MNCs operating in various jurisdictions. Speakers included: Paul Singer, Founder, Co-Chief Executive Officer and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Elliott Management; Fred Hochberg, Chairman and President of the Export-Import Bank of the United States; and Indian Crown Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil, India’s first openly gay prince; moderated by Jill Schlesinger of CBS News.

Highlights

Tuesday, May 17th – Eric Fanning was confirmed by the United States Senate as the first openly gay Secretary of the United States Army following a contentious process. On April 2, 2016, Deutsche Bank sponsored the Knights Out / Spectrum Gala as part of a sponsorship between dbPride and VOWS which allowed several Deutsche Bank colleagues to meet now Secretary Fanning at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Tuesday, May 17th – As part of IDAHOT employees across the world were invited to wear purple to visibly demonstrate support of LGBT colleagues and post photos of themselves on the dedicated photo wall. dbPride is delighted with the success of the IDAHOT events and thanks everyone for showing their visible support with creativity and spirit.

Monday, May 16th – Deutsche Bank sponsored the first-ever LGBT gala at the United Nations. This event supported the important work of OutRight Action International, the only LGBTIQ organization recognized by the United Nations. The night was hosted by Alan Cumming and honored several international activists.

Sunday, May 15th – Deutsche Bank participated in the AIDS Walk NY, with almost 90 team members; the Deutsche Bank team was one of the largest teams participating in this year’s walk. dbPride has participated in the walk for more than a dozen years and engaged more than 1,000 employees and raised more than $450,000. Sunday, June 26^th – Deutsche Bank was a sponsor of the NYC Pride March, further demonstrating its commitment to the LGBT community. Deutsche Bank employees marched from Midtown to the West Village in Manhattan, wearing rainbow-colored shirts. Deutsche Bank also had a float that was adorned with lyrics of “What the World Needs Now is Love,” the hit song of the 60s recorded by Broadway’s biggest stars as a single to benefit the LGBT community in Orlando.
